Description: Exceptional carved gray volcanic stone metate depicting a semiabstract spread winged condor, front openwork leg depicted his head with a long-tapered beak, openwork eyes, nostrils and beak, two rear legs of the same form. Relief carved intricate feather pattern. Two front edge openwork lug handles depicting stylized bird heads with long curved beaks. Grinding table relief decorated with a wide relief carved geometric pattern. Overall light encrusted surface deposits. Repaired break through the center with restoration over the break line. A large and beautifully carved example.
